What about UNC Asheville? They just beat Winthrop for the second time this season and claimed an automatic NIT bid. They are 22-8 and 10-4 in the Big South. It's not a power conference, but they also beat South Carolina (SEC), and gave close games to North Carolina (ACC), Virginia Tech (ACC), and Tennessee (SEC). All of those losses were by less than 15 points to good caliber teams. The loss to VT by 10 was also without Bryan Smithson and Kenny George, their two most dominating players. If they don't get the automatic NCAA bid they will be a force to be reckoned with in the NIT, more than likely an Elite 8 NIT team.
